SEIS MIL ANTENAS is an exploration in improvised movements and performances with a group of black Brazilian dancers around Salvador, Bahia. This is a collaborative project between Montreal interdisciplinary artist Johnny Ranger & Brooklyn based visual artist OLEK and was created during their residency at the Sacatar Institute in Itaparica, Brazil. The dancers Verra Passos & Agata Matos were chosen from the students of Rosangela Sylvestre.
The work approach themes that have deep resonance in Brazilian culture with African origin but remains very discreet in occidental societies, this series of dance videos revisit rites, spirit works incantations and body possessions in small contrasted tableaux oscillating between otherworldly dramatization, absurd humor and raw rhythmic editing.
