Thermostellar bomb gets stuck in the bombay but thinks it was dropped and plans to detonate. One of the spacecrafts crew trys to talk it out of detonating by using phenomenology.

This has gotta be one of the best examples of a philosophical theme used in a movie cleverly but not opaquely. It just lays out the idea in front of you, but by making the idea concrete it is elevated to a new level of abstraction: in the end it's not the bomb speaking it's you or all of us. The Matrix series used three mediocre movies to do what this clip does in under 4 minutes.

I always like watching this clip. Actually, it wouldn't be hard programming a bomb like that nowadays. "Teach it Phenomenology!" That is priceless.

    Let there be God.

Wow, Darkstar was made for $60,000 dollars? Really?! It was a cheesy movie with lame effects and sets but still fun to watch! This was a student film which begs the question I've always wondered of HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET THAT MUCH MONEY TO MAKE THAT LOW BUDGET MOVIE?! Kind of makes one wonder of another question...ITS A BOMB DON'T THEY HAVE AN OFF SWITCH FOR THE DAMN BOMB THING TO PREVENT IT FROM BLOWING UP THE SHIP OR EJECTION MODULE FOR SUCH A CRISIS?!

Why, oh why would you even consider giving a bomb artificial intelligence?

You are being harsh...treat it as piece of Cinema History....it was made for a total of $60,000! Even in 1975 the AVERAGE movie cost at least TEN times that...they did an amazing job especially for a sci-movie where you have to make sets and props from scratch.

The first Matrix was Plato's "The Cave", chapter 7 of the Republic.
