Ten-year-old Sayid killed himself after being beaten up by classmates and threatened by a teacher at the military school he attended. His parents knew he was troubled, but they had nowhere to turn for help.

Produced by Alexander Kulygin and Anastasia Kirilenko of RFE/RL's Russian Service, with reporting by Claire Bigg.

  • @OrodesIII It's a very sad story, but it was a military academy, and being a soldier in Russia is tougher than being a soldier anywhere else in the world.

The kid seemed like a peaceful soul who should have persude the arts or some type of higher learning, military was not for him. I wish the school and the parents figured that out in time and withdrew him from the academy, so an innocent and talented little boy didn't have to die.

  • Incredible insensitivity from the school authorities and their incompetence in maintaining a civilized atmosphere at their institution.

  • That poor child. I iwsh he could have been saved. I hope the best for that family. It is a sad day....

  • Very tragic, my heart goes out to his family.
