strings3002...sack up and buy the video. check out more youtube posts of drop thumbing. if you can't hear the difference and see the value in this technique then don't worry with learning it, not everyone drop thumbs. but i think you will find that there is a sound you cannot achieve without it. it allows for longer, somewhat bluegrass style runs.

This is a very good instructional, however, double thumbing is often used interchangeably with drop thumb. This is drop thumbing. Double thumbing is constantly thumbing the 5th string.
Nonetheless, great video.
