  • Well, maybe one should not expect too much from a 4 minute video, but the argument here is pretty weak. In effect, Father Barron is saying that it would be awfully nice if the Pope were indeed infallible in matters of the faith, and therefor he must be. As for Matthew 16:18, that is awfully flimsy. And isn't the doctrine of Papal infallibility recent? (i.e. 19th century). Were the popes before then infallible without knowing it?

  • @roxykattx Clearly it's not meant to be an entire case for the teaching. I don't agree that that's the argument Fr. Barron is making here, though. Either way, you should check out the following if you'd like to learn more about the Church's teaching on Papal Infallibility: catholic[dot]com/tracts/papal-infallibility (u will have to replace the [dot] obviously)

  • @papalsoldier Amen.

  • @roxykattx There are three requirements for infallibility to be invoked:

    1. The pronouncement must be made by the official successor to Peter.

    2. The subject matter must be in the area of faith and morals.

    3. The Pope must be speaking Ex Cathedra (from the chair) of Peter, and must be intending to proclaim a doctrine that binds the entire Church to assent.

Not everything the Pope says is infallible.

  • @roxykattx The word “infallible” actually means “cannot fail” or “unfailing.” Therefore, the very term Papal Infallibility comes directly from Christ’s promise to St. Peter (and his successors) in Luke 22:31-32, that Peter has an unfailing Faith. And it was also believed in the early Church,(The Dogmatic letter of Pope Leo to the Council of Chalcedon) Though this truth was believed since the beginning of the Church, it was specifically defined as a dogma at the Vatican Council in 1870.

  • So many kooks, so little time. I noticed none of you have given me even a Scriptural based answer, but instead resort to irrelevant allusions to various legends. I suppose Protestants were always tolerant even to their fellow Protestants? I don't defend the crimes committed by priests or even the hierarchy, but none of you is answering in a scriptural way. And with that, I will hold my peace, brothers.

  • @Pi10sco in an ancient firepit testifying to their mistakes and countless revisions and is then translated thru the RCC's apostate prism of doctrine "give us this Day our Super- Substantive bread. Check out what your priest did in ww2!! Watch a Lamp in the Dark

  • YOU AINT GOING TO FOOL NO ONE.IN CATHOLIC CHURCH POPE IS INFALLIBLE.FALSE TEACHING.CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE MYSTERY RELIGION MENTIONED IN REVELATION.ONLY FOOLS WHO CANNOT DISCERN THIS.SOON POPE WILL BE REVEALED AS THE FALSE PROPHET AND TOGETHER WITH THE FALSE POLITICAL LEADER IN EU THEY WILL LEAD MANY ''CHRISTIANS'' INTO HELL.
