In May 2002, Omnitel, Swedbank, TEO and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) joined forces in an initiative called Langas į ateitį, Window to the Future, to decrease the digital divide in Lithuania by promoting internet use. Today, over 800 free-of-charge internet access points have been established and Lithuania has become one of the leading European countries in terms of the number of public Internet access points per citizen, the average distance between each internet point being 8 km.
