Well as most of you know I got Derby on August 4th 2008. So now I have had him a year. It has been a really hard year, with good times and bad times. It has been a really big step for me going from 14.2hh Billy to 17hh Derby, although I am still riding Billy, and I still own him and he, like Derby isnt going anywhere. Ideally, I wanted Derby to be out and about competing now, but nothing is perfect and I suppose it didnt go the way I wanted.
The whole year from August 4th started off really good, he was too strong for me, we solved that one, then the whole back thing came along in April, I cried to so many people all through this year I would like to thank them so much, and you know who you are. He is coming along and I hope to have him jumping properly in about September time. I will carry on updating everyone if you wish.
It has been a bit of a soppy love story and we have kept each other strong and sane. I hope our next few years go much better and we get out eventing. I just need to get my bond with him and also to get used to him because as I have said before it has been a big jump and yes I admit it but he was the perfect horse for me. My dream is to event and that is what I am going to do. We have the best local club just across the road to us Dengie Hundred Horse Society and they have supported me all through my show jumping with Billy, so I am sure they will help me with Derby.
I am also proud to say that I have not fallen off Derby once in this year and I dont plan to because I am a short girl and it is a mighty big fall. Although I am pretty excited to fall because knowing me I will do it in style and break something.
When I get my lorry/trailer I hope to take him to some ménages and to more shows and get him working properly. Also I am looking out for a decent trainer in this area of Essex.
