Very intelligent people live in Appalachia. They just have no way of becoming educated. Common sense reigns. They can make-do with anything. The can use it up, wear it out, make do and do without, but they survive. These people will still be living when everyone else is gone.

I'm a native of the region. We didn't know we were poor till someone told us. I guess ignorance is bliss. I count myself blessed to have came from those hills and hollers.

My grandfather was one of these coal miners. He lived and died in the appalachias. My father was born there and so was I. My dad moved us to another state and drove a truck most of his life. I've worked my way through college. I am two generations removed from the images here and it has been a driving force behind why I keep going forward. Thanks to my dad and grandfather. I stand on your shoulders to reach greater heights.

You're right about the music - it is amazing. The album is called "Skip, Hop, Wobble", by Russ Barenberg, Edgar Meyer, and Jerry Douglas. It's an AMAZING album. While you're at it, you might check out "The Telluride Sessions" by Strength in Numbers. You can find "Slopes" by strength in numbers on YouTube. Good luck with your purchases. I'm happy I could introduce you to some of my favorite music.
