@alright4u You're comparing apples to oranges. They'll both work, it depends on the caster and the water he's fishing. I do almost all of my fishing with thumb on top, but I've done it with the index finger too, on really small waters. BTW I've worked in the fly fishing industry for most of my life, so don't try to play the experience card.
