Here, I just wanted to illustrate that the AI sucks. I have seen too many videos offering "proof" that a specific character sucks by badly beating its AI in an even match (generally with both characters at level 100, good equipment, and enough practice that they easily know how to counter their every attack). I took on an AI 40 levels higher than myself (I would've gone all the way to 100, but I only had enough spare PP at the time to buy CPU Level Cap +40) and wiped the floor with it. I made no special preparations whatsoever (as evidenced by my having equipped Ifrit (auto) when I'm obviously not going to be inflicting Break) and used no gamebreaking strategies. I hadn't even used Firion in a couple weeks (he's my favorite character, but, being the extreme completionist that I am, I naturally have to use every character equally regardless), so his equipment setup was lacking. This is just a straight-up fight, with nothing special prepared.

Note this is my first video that is not directly related to Nasu. Wow.

  • Woah, not a lot of videos of people using Firion in his alternate costume.

  • Really? I don't watch a lot of Dissidia videos, so I wouldn't know. Actually, basically all the Dissidia videos I've seen floating around seem to be the typical ones based around the overrated characters from 7-10.

I use Firion's alternate costume mainly because of the red in it.

  • wat a great combo there

  • Also, his lines during his EX Burst, minus the part in the middle where he just names off all the weapon types he uses, are pretty dang close to Archer's lines during his Holy Grail Burst EX Attack (which in his sole case the name doesn't even fit) in Fate/Unlimited Codes, and both are moves similar in basic nature (hailing down multiple weapons on the enemy in rapid succession [as opposed to Butz, who just slowly does normal slashes several times in a row]).

  • This is interesting timing, though, as I was just planning on adding a bit to this when I got back home.

In addition to those bits, this new DFF Firion (who again, like all the first 3 parters, is almost nothing like his original base) also fires weapons off of his bow (Archer's signature move).

And compare his victory quote that just happened to show up on this instance with the famous: "I have no regrets. This is the only path. My whole life was unlimited blade works."

  • For one thing, he doesn't have the Haseo and Vash aspect as well, so who cares, but still... no, just no. Butz, besides being about the least interesting Final Fantasy character ever to be given a personality (there was a good reason his game originally didn't get ported to the US [there's also a good reason for FF2, but, luckily, Firion is next to nothing like his original, paper-thin self]), all he does is copy entire moves from others, and he doesn't have grit or GAR overall.

  • Wouldn't Bartz be slightly more like Archer? I mean, he is a Faker too.

  • The point I was trying to make here is that the AI does not have the capacity to learn or a random variable, as a human player would have. Notice doing the same attack in the same way over and over works every time, and the AI never figures out a way to get around it. The AI works in very strict patterns, so, by taking into account what you are doing at what kind of range in what situation you can always expect the AI to do exactly the same thing in response. You can toy with them like dolls.

  • That would've been far more interesting to watch, though.

  • And you wanted me to close-range an opponent with obviously superior power with every attack in the book just to show off (like I usually do in my fighting game demonstration videos, just without the superior-powered opponent part)?

If I really wanted to cheese my way through, I could've equipped Magic Pot, let him get a Break on me plus his Ifrit (auto), used my summon, and 1HKO'd him. But that would've defeated the purpose.
