  • Wonders me about all the sand you got in your mortar, did it make it to crack when firing and does this have good enough heat retention with only one layer of bricks? Others I've seen have two or more thicknesses of brick.

  • at 1:14 there's the code enforcement officer waiting to shut you down..LOL..LOL..LOL

  • Beautiful...theres just no substitute for old- fashioned hand crafted masonry

  • Sorry for the delay in replying. It's been a busy fall. Actually outdoor, free-standing ovens like this one commonly have the oven at the rear because it's easier to build. Front chimney flues are used here in central Pennsylvania typically when part of an open fireplace arrangement in a summer kitchen, the gases come forward into the main chimney. Thanks for asking. Johannes

  • I have never seen hand packing mortar? he was getting allot of sand in his mix. that will cause cracking. looks good though

  • Why is the chimney in the back? Arnt they normally in the front? Any advantage dis-advantage to this?

  • great vid. I want to build an oven like this.
