  • I assume you mean Manchester UK? I went to this show. I still have my ticket stub as well. June 2nd 1977 . I remember sneaking in the stalls before the show and sat down on what i thought was a coat. The guy just stopped me cos underneath it was a very expensive looking tape machine. I wonder if this was the recording. Great gig and good times. Saw them the year after, twice on the Farewell to Kings tour. I may be wrong but Def Leppard support them on TFTK tour?

  • @chillumpuffer Manchester in t'north indeed and wow maybe you sat on this very bootleg haha it is incomplete so i hope that isn't your fault!!!

  • WELL, SUDDENLY EVERYONE WENT TO THE SHOW...

  • I too was at this concert, I was 13 at the time,

Xanadu is actually Shangdu, the ex summer capital of China during Kubla Khan's reign, the song is not fantasy but based on fact.

I visited Inner Mongolia and Shangdu a couple of years ago, it was so surreal stood in the city walls listeneing to this song on my iPhone whilst there. I did break my thirst on honeydew and drank the milk of paradise

  • @aguscanzani Lol, yeah, if you look at the comment below you, they have also been there, to the actual Xanadu!

  • My older brother was at this concert - Free Trade Hall, Manchester.

  • I saw them on the 12th June at the Glasgow Apollo, still have the ticket dtub, programme & one of the Apollo posters!! Support band was Stray!

  • ..so where can I find THIS boot?

  • I envy anyone there in 77. I was only 10 but at 17 became an addict to this progressive paradise!

  • @BKKMekong Jammy bastard....

  • @BKKMekong LUCKY! Im 14 but Rush doesn't ever come near me,

I was on the wiki for this song a few days ago and it said Neil wrote it after reading the poem Kubla Khan, which is a fictional garden created by Kubla Khan which grants immortality, Later the man realizes that immortality sucks, lol. You probably know a lot more about Rush then me but thats just what it says on Wiki.

But whatever its about, its still a really great, actually, my favorite Rush song!

  • @aguscanzani I didn't go either. Anyone else?

  • Why is it in the wrong key

  • Thanks for the upload...Very nice!
