This is a choral setting of 'Nimrod' from Sir Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations, arranged by John Cameron. It was recorded during rehearsal for the recital of 'Sacred Choral Classics' given by St Peter's Singers on Saturday 14th March 2009 in the church of St Michael and All Angels, Thornhill, near Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
The choir is directed by Dr Simon Lindley.

  • @r0y204a The words are taken from the Requiem Mass: Lux æterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in æternum, quia pius es. Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine; et lux perpetua luceat eis...... English translation: May everlasting light shine upon them, O Lord, with your Saints forever, for you are merciful. Grant them eternal rest, O Lord, and may everlasting light shine upon them.......

Mine too! But depending on your religion we may not get to hear it!

But where can I find a copy of the words?

    Any ideas?

    Regards

  • Wonderful Simon. This is one of the pieces of music I'd like at my funeral! I never knew there was a choral version. I'll have to look it up. I'm quite sure the Capriccio Vocal Ensemble of Victoria BC could do this wonderful justice! Keep it up...you and your choirs are terrific!
