  • cool as hell!..but i dont get it..why do you have to record the sound separate?..cant you just use the external mic and record as usual video+audio together?

  • @pgice Yes you can record together, but there are many reason you might want to record the sound on a different device: Better microphone, microphone closer to what you want to record, multiple microphones, microphone suited to the type of audio capture. Sound is nearly always recorded separately in professional settings for all of these reasons. The clapboard is the traditional way of syncing the sound with the film/video, but there are inexpensive software options available now.

  • @ytmonline just one more quest..if i get a rode videomic and stay with the regular recording..do i get a great sound?

  • @pgice The sound will be improved if you have the microphone properly placed. All microphones have a range within which they will capture the best quality sound. A friend recently got a Rode set-up. Watch his video and compare the sound to the video that was posted just before it. youtube(dot)com/uncuthashbrown

  • @Birdagi but it helps.. some color correction, small bit of vignette, convert down to 24fps for some slowmo action.. and there you have it, film look:) but i aggree with you its not as easy as flicking in a vignette layer..

  • One of the features on a Canon 60D is a sound mixer ,if you are going to use another sound mixer instead, you could just buy the t2i or t3i,the 3i has all of the features the 60D has except the sound mixer......and with the mic,I would think the sound would be good,so that is my question, how is the sound on the 60D using the built in mixer???,,if the sound quality isn't good with the 60D then I can save 400.00 with buying the T3i,it has the folding screen etc,

  • @Birdagi Actually it does. Alot.

  • @ytmonline I use an external device like a H4N zune, it really depends on preference.

  • good camera =/= instant filmmaker

  • The encoding quality on this completely destroyed the clear visuals output by the camera...
