The "telinel" shoulders Rilah Mam and dances with him. His legs were cut off by the Tz'utujil prophet Maplas Soguel because he got out of hand. Quetzalteca is rum. The story portrayed here is largely accurate but his name, of which he has many actually means something like old child. He was created to keep the wives of traveling salesmen from cheating. Long before the Gospel of Judas was found the Tz'utujil believed Jesus and Judas had a deal to fulfill the prophesy. I am a Rilaj Acha-Old man!

thank you for bringing some information to the world that does not understand tradition.

Of corse HE WILL SURVIVE, as long as he is in our mind, uor hearts, and our souls, he will be around us
Yeah, it is a deity worshiped by many prositutes, thieves, etc. This is because he can be sought for good or evil. Maximon is tradition, even if you perceieve it as satanism it is still a tradition. Btw, I am from Guatemala.

I heard that before, but also I heard he was carved out a magical tree to protect the women when men were away at war.
You are right, Quetzalteca is rum, very bad and strong rum (trust me I am a from Guatemala.)Aguaardiente is used to describe any hard liquor in many of these towns.
There are many stories surrounding Maximon, that is in part what got me to film this.
Now that I have more Tv an film knowledge I might make a more visually appealing an overall better documentary about Maximon.

I hope the tradition follows, and it does not die with many other influences from the outside world.
