UFraw is by far the fastest batch editor I've used (not just in Linux)
What you do is, you open up a file browser, browse to your images, select a batch of images and press enter

You can always write a script that runs dcraw (which Ufraw is based on) on several input files. This would allow you to process the photos in batch.
