Without the state, property rights would be indefensible and a stateless society would be full of thieving rascals. However, by supporting the state's arbitrary geographical monopoly for the protection of these services, you are legalizing the plunder of the rights you wish to protect. A better way forward is to voluntarily contract with others to protect your justly-acquired property claims. Its consistent and doesn't face those nasty public choice dilemmas.

  • But, in a democracy, isn't the state made up of the people within said state? Furthermore, doesn't the state need funds in order to protect the property of others, so doesn't the pooling of the state (or people's) resources help us be able to defend ourselves? Also, if it wasn't forced that all people pay taxes for all people's good, then some people would be able to benefit from the herd.

Lastly, the location of the state isn't arbirtrary. It's made up of the land the citizens of the stateown

  • @Awesomeoo100 I can't answer this all in detail with these posts. Send me a private message, or I can send you some links which spell this out in more depth.

  • @Awesomeoo100 How is it appropriate for an individual to acquire land for use? What is the just way to do that?

  • @effexor I'm not arguing that taxes are too high or too low, only that some people shouldn't be allowed to draw lines on a map and force everyone within it to buy their protection services. This is criminal, and you can't justify that authority.

Why don't you read the article about Somalia that we posted?

YouTube wasn't letting me post it. I'll gladly do this here.

  • "Well, what about neighboring countries that DO have governments? Do they have pirates?"

The individuals with guns call "the state" are the pirates. Surely anyone with eyes can see this. If anyone did what the state does then prison would be in their future.

  • Once again a half witted approach to this issue. If you privatize security then you have big business hiring private firms to point guns at the workers so they'll only buy from the company store and be paid less than a living wage. That is what happens when business privatized security. I'd rather have a say and a vote with who's pointing the guns than have to work for them.

  • I don't know where you live but it sounds like an Agenda 21 policy. Google Agenda 21 for dummies and you know what's going on. Also Choose Freedom - Agenda 21 on facebook. One of the policies is to steel peoples property, serious I am not joking. Read the experiences on facebook.

Also exelent info on freedomadvocates. org . I see this topic is a year old, but I hope this information will help you.

  • hello?

  • @SelfOwnershipFTW

in what sense fo we live in a feudal society?

we live in a society where it has never been easier to become educated?

in say a "free soociety" would you agree to useng the western united states as a model of sorts? a society based on personal freedoms with little or no interuption from a central gov . In this climate large land owners became almost local lords above the laws introduced by the community.

  • @podge314 We have a feudal system now. If someone tried to establish one in a free society, and we'd try all nonviolent means available, and then have to stop the attempted ruler with force.

And yes, we should probably encourage democratic gun ownership.

  • @SelfOwnershipFTW

i fail to see how that could be acomplished? if the enforcement of law was left to seperate agencies why would a feudal system not arise over night especialy in places where gun ownership is not widespread?

  • @podge314 If you could vote for your mob boss, it'd be the state. :D

It'd be done the same way everything else is: consent & trade, rather than through coercive monopolies.
