ho scale of the gulf mobile & ohio's gulf coast rebel being pulled by a alco PA & a alco DL-109, this was a common consist because the crews didn't like to operate the DL-109's because of their noisey prime movers & not to mention all that alco smoke! , so the crews would always head the train with a PA, the train operated from st. louis to mobile al. from 1940 to 1958,the end observation car is a model of issac burton tigrett's private car, he was the father of the gm&o and the president from 1940 to 1950, he was formally the president of the predeseccer to the gm&o the gulf mobile & northern, and the president of bn&w, the birmingham & northwestren, that ran from jackson tn, through his hometown of friendship tn, & to dyersburg tn, at 33 during his presidency of the bn&w, he was the youngest railroad president in the u.s.,his great nephew IB Tigrett, started the hard rock cafe franchise, & the first hard rock cafe was in jackson tn's old hickory mall in the late 1960's & early 1970's
The Gulf Coast Rebel used to pass a block from my house when I was a kid. It was on the Southern RR tracks heading east out of New Orleans. I saw it many times. Sigh! Those are such great memories.
