Because my lack of any descent recumbent bike riding, and interest to buy one, I had to try it first. We went to M5 in Middelburg (NL) for a day long test ride. It took me roughly 10 minutes of lost pride to get started, and many more embarrassing moments to get rolling again after a stop, but it was worth trying. Conclusion: if there are somehow descent biking roads around: go ahead, and enjoy learning to cycle again, just like a small kid!

  • Not really. I didn't have problems with slow bends at regular speed. But quickly turning around the corner at the same speed feels a bit awkward, because I need more trust in the tire grip to lend into the corner. Taking the corner slowly helps to keep to bike upright, but riding slowly doesn't help stability. And making U-turns was completely out of the question. But I'm sure much can be achieved by practicing, and don't forget to keep your heels away from the front wheel!
