The Misadventures of Darth Vader - Episode 4

Filmed, directed, scripted, edited and polished in an afternoon and evening, The Misadventures of Darth Vader is just a few friends dressing in costumes and having fun. We tried to make this as professional as possible given our budget, yet still give it a non-serious tone and direction. The best way to describe this series is to compare it to Stupid Mario Brothers, specifically the early episodes.

The story follows the crazy mishaps of Darth Vader and the much more cool Clone Trooper. After the first battle on the Death Star, they crash landed on a strange planet and need to get home. However, they continuously get tangled up into increasingly complex situations and dilemmas with a crazy cast of characters. Will Darth Vader and Clone Trooper make it back into the universe of Star Wars ever again? Or will they be forever trapped in a perpetual pop cultural time paradox? Watch to find out!

Director's Notes:

Ah, nice to have a new episode to broadcast on YouTube. This episode was much less of a headache than Episode 3. It's not nearly as big as the previous episode, but it's at least longer than the first two still.

Obviously our big showcase in this episode is our Mario Kart inspired chase scene. Seeing as how Clone and Vader own a real industrial amusement park-grade Go-Kart, we just had to assign it as Waluigi's sweet ride! The Clone of course, takes a Quad since he's the coolest character on the show. Looking over the two parts of the overall Go-Kart chase scene, it probably isn't that exciting or awesome, but we put our best effort into it and we hope you, the viewers, have fun watching it.

This episode also marks the first time we've ever scrapped entire scene ideas. We even filmed most of them! Basically the premise was after Waluigi knocked Clone out of commission with a Banana, he drives up to the big garage (that scene is still intact). There he runs into the Farmer who was also a Mechanic. The Farmer fixes Waluigi's Go-Kart, marveled at his work, Waluigi offers to let Farmer help him take out Clone for good. The second chase scene then features the Farmer sitting in in the shotgun seat, shooting at Clone. Here would be the same scene where Clone gets a Green Shell and knocks Waluigi out. After crashing into the wall, instead of Clone dealing with Waluigi, Farmer and Waluigi would end their alliance because they thought the other was the weaklink. The reason we never used these scenes was because we felt it wasn't good enough to really utilize to it's fullest. Instead we went with a cut-back version of it. Mind you the outcome was somewhat cookie-cutter (chase scene, farmer scene, mercenary scene, chase scene, farmer scene, mercenary scene etc), I think it turned out alright. Besides, if Farmer was helping Waluigi, we couldn't have used that joke where he's trying to get that Lawnmower to start. I might upload that deleted scene, but it would depend on how complete it was.
