mine does the same. well we have the same unit. but i activated the intellamute or something like that so it softens after 4 secs or something.

What you may be picking up are radar devices in the E-ZPass only lanes. They are utilized there to identify vehicles that are speeding thru the toll plaza well above the 15 mph limit. Account holders who speed can have their account privileges revoked.

This one detects like 300meter to 700meter maximum with average conditions.

With poor conditions, 150meters to 400 meters.

@ooooooooooooooopppps This Cobra platform is solid compared to other detectors in it's price range, BUT I wouldn't buy the 9970G. You're paying more for a touchscreen, which is just unnecessary imo. The 9960G and 9955 have the same internals as this, which means they perform the same. As for distance, it all depends on the encounter. Obstructions will cause poor encounters for any detector. You'll have good and not so good distances. But, again, the models that I mentioned are solid detectors.

How far have you found the warning signs to be in real life testing?

I have been looking to get one of these puppies.
