Locon at Faro Airport

The LocON project aims to integrate * embedded location systems and * embedded wireless communication

in a standardised way and to develop a new platform in order to control large scale infrastructures, like airports, more efficient, secure, robust and flexible.

With the implementation of new security control services, the added values of the LocON system will be shown on a Portuguese airport site.

The LocON platform is a key enabling technology for new services in various market areas. Through the open position information layer, all kinds of localisation systems using the LocON standard can be integrated.

Therefore, the LocON concept is attractive to all types of large infrastructures which require localisation as a tool for new or better adapted monitoring and control services.

The LocON project is a Coordination Action funded by the European Commission under the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) theme from the 7th Framework Programme. The duration of the project is from 01.06.08 until 30.11.10.
