A video tour of my NYC apartment machine shop and fabrication shop. This is my hobby shop which features a CNC TAIG mill, a 7x14 manual mini-lathe, a Di-acro shear, finger brake and notcher, and various other equipment (bandsaw, grinder, buffer, etc).

I have always learned a lot while touring other people's shops and hope that folks might see and learn something from this.

  • great vid.very organized. most of our machines are manual, but we do use a lot of precision stuffs that you also have. i never knew that one particular indicator is called "co-axial"? am i correct? i also have that granite plate very useful inspection tool. id like to have that sort of drawer my dad use to mess things up. pain in the neck. lol. you might want to consider a optical comparator? you seem to do precision works. thanks.

  • @bjlibrero Yes, it's a "coaxial" indicator. Glad you enjoyed!

  • Very nice!

Why do you keep the granite block in water?

  • @natealb I use a dedicated granite block for wetstanding / polishing materials

  • What does a granite block do?

  • @endlesstime41 It is an expensive, incredibly flat surface. I use them mainly for two things: 1) as a base for a height indicator when measuring parts and 2) I have a dedicated block I use for sanding things which need to be very flat.

  • You broke my first rule of workshop organization which is never mix tools with stock! I do not mix tools with measuring instruments either. I see you have some general storage solutions but I think you'd be better off if you made yourself some custom holders. Take a tip from a hick chainsaw bar lube is way oil. Also give up WD-40 for PB Blaster its better. If you're in NYC then you're close to Newark NJ you can buy metals there.

  • @saunixcomp thanks for posting this. well perhaps you can post some of your precision operations. id like to share ours but my camera is broken.

  • WOW, I thought I was the only one like you!! Nothing beats havin' all ur tools and machines with you in your own place to tinker around with. I would lose my mind without my toys. Have fun man!!

  • WOW! N.Y.C ARE U VERY CLOSE TO JERRY SEINFEILD, IS HE IN THE HOOD?... CHEERS CARL GIN FROM NEW ZEALAND
