It's most depressing from my European perspective that Americans don't see how much their society is infested with militarism and jingoism.
Europeans may mock about "dumb Americans" but nothing compares to self-righteous US soldiers ramming their army boots into any foreign ass that is in kicking distance.
That's sad because I know America could do much better. Time to educate yourselves about history. That would make many foreign reactions understandable in an instant.

Expansionist military spending is counterproductive in every way. Production & service are the basis of economy. Economy-of-scale & automation are good only until they enrich an elite undeserving of of power that it does not merit. A new way to reward productive entrepreneurs needs to emerge that will ensure limits to excessive power & influence; our present system is the exact opposite. Merit is the key. We need public forums to enthusiastically debate these issues.

What will happen to the dispossessed?
Will local officials have the stomach to
oust tens of thousands of their citizens?

Tell us pls -- What OTHER nation has so thoroughly devestated people's fondest hopes for self-rule, social justice, peace and rule of law to such an extent, around the world? Why has the US repeatedly invaded foreign nations not at any risk to us or anyone else, or set-up spurious pretexts, enforced ruinous economic policies serving western interests and large corporations at the expense of the poor, middle class and peasants?
