One of my favourite songs from '79 - when Disco was starting to get experimental (Funkytown, Video Killed The Radio Star, Pop Muzic) and done by the fab Manhattan Transfer!
This album began a new era for the group: This album was the first one with Cheryl Bentyne, who replaced Laurel Massé. It was also the first album that contained songs that were hits in both the jazz and pop categories. The disco hit song Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone reached #12 on Billboard's Disco chart, and on the Hot 100 reached #30.
I love the pun on:
"Here in the Twilight Zone", which is lyrically "Hearin' the Twilight Tone..."
This song deserves to be as much a Hallowe'en hit as Thriller...
i really enjoy this disco themed song always have my older sister had this on 12'' album

I had no idea that The Manhattan Transfer were the people behind this! Makes me appreciate it even more! I shouldn't be surprised, though.

"Submitted for your approval," I of course play this when I'm perfoming my '"Rod Serling's Twilight Zone" parties in my character role as Rod himself, DJ-ing, singing impersonations, special effects, audience participations and even have the hypnotic rotating cones signifing the show's opening titles, lots of cool old school hyjinks, too! Want to travel to 'another dimension in party fun? It's TBC Stars!
