Found in a cross flow zone in The Wild around iteration 210,000, MargLyn illustrates the creative synergy between an uncommon wide sym ship travelling on the line of a common pair of blocks when their emergent form avoids disruption from other incoming ships for 1260 iterations including a spectacular, long running if ultimately unstable, 3/7 speed engine which eventually begets a persistent 1/2 speed block trail laying engine.

This was the first serious trial of a pan-zoom Perl script extending the Golly 2.0 cellular automata application. The Wild is the to-date 222,000 iteration history of a very simple seed under the Generations 345/3/6 CA rule aka LivingOnTheEdge. A dedicated site http://www.TheWildCA.com/ is in preparation.

  • is this real, because thats my real name you called it

  • I named it for Lynn Margulis, the biologist who has so greatly improved our understanding of the vital role of symbiosis in increasing the complexity of life.
