sweet heaven. you musta put some real ape strength into tightening them suckers... im not sure people that do that kinda stuff should be making videos with mechanical advice in it but i guess the intention is wholesome... oh and by the way, them pistons are in your engine, not your carb, the ones in your carb, thems is called carb needles
-
why, would you ever tighten something that is supposed to be precise past snug?
-
are you the hulk or something?

Horrible video...
-
its carb needles not pistons...pistons are in the engine..

Please hold the camera still!!!

The problem here is that when you try to put 150ft/lbs on the main jet is that it bottoms against the needle jet. The main jet,the needle jet, and the jet needle all work as one unit. As StillenGtr17 has now learned the hard way, finger tighten them and then one quarter turn.No more. They are made of brass, which is a fairly soft metal.

dont feel to bad about it we have all done it lol one way or another either a jet snapping of or smashing the slot sheer the threads all sorts after the first time i did i never did it again.

Man, you scared me like hell! When I saw your video I had just assembly my Keihin VR carb and I tightened the jets a lot... by my opinion... so as I was watching I disassebled it all again... but it was all OK! :-)
arent there torque specs?

@missionron No, the jet tubes can only handle 3lbs of pressure. What you do is finger tighten them, then take a socket or something that fits and tighten it like a quarter turn and it's good.

@curtis0432 That could be, my bike sat outside uncovered for 5 years and the wires, plugs, and possibly the coils are toast.

hey my question is the smaller jet that u didnt mess up that u took out does the hole in the center suppose to go all the way threw it
curtis0432 1 year ago
@curtis0432 Yes it is supposed to go all the way through, some auto shops have a cleaner that I don't know the name of but it comes in buckets, you soak your parts for a couple of hours and they come out like new.
