Plasma screen overall brightness reduces as input frame brightness is increased

Video demonstrating Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090H (Plasma TV) where the brightness of white areas is reduced when more of the input frame is set to white pixels.

Note that although the camera is adjusting recording for brightness, the effect is as noticeable as in this video.

This effect is not apparent in most naturally moving cinema scenes (except maybe a Matrix "Guns, lots of guns" like scene).

For watching commercials this may even be a soothing effect not having a company logo burned into your retinals.
