A short video of a Babcock flatbed cylinder printing press being run by a small steam engine on September 20, 2008 in connection with the Great Northern Printers' Fair held at the Printers' Hall Museum at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
@jbwark27 Really? I used to live there! I thought I saw an old Heidelberg windmill through the window, but didn't know he used an old flatbed cylinder press! *grin*
I remember feeding one in Central City, Colorado in the 70s for the Weekly Register Call. The press and shop is still there, but not open to the public and no longer in use.
Cecil Krebs printed the Boswell (Ind.) Enterprise on one of these presses until he retired circa 2001. I saw him run it in 2000. His was one of the last letterpress newspapers in Indiana.
