My god that looks horrible, thank god for Kubrick.

I think the 1980 Shining is one of those rare occasions where the film is actually superior to the novel.
The mini series though is kind of corny, looking back at it. I sort of enjoyed it when it came out, but certain scenes, particulary the ball room, are just plain ridiculous.

@boozebo In the original book and at the real-life hotel that the book was based on and this film was made at, it's 217.

@Shyreenify I can't tell you how many times I hear people have say that. The truth is i find the miniseries even more scary. I mean come on...the 217 scene? holy shit! and I only hate the Stanley Kubrick version BECAUSE it doesn't follow the book....I do not have anything against the guy..I personally love his other movies.

Gawd,you people. Stop arguing over the two versions. If you like the book,you'll like the miniseries. If you want a great movie to scare the hell out of you,you'll like the 1980 version. Is that so difficult to figure out?

@Theories9 the 1980 shining didnt stick the book at all, but at least it was creepy. i cant take the remake seriously.

redrum lol when i was waching the movie didnt knew what it was but if u see it from the end to start it say murder and i understood it when i tryed to read it like that for fun when the woman saw it on the bar xD

I thought the miniseries was alright. The Kubrick version is miles scarier though. Even if the miniseries is closer to the book.

I was just at that hotel- the Stanley. It was incredibly eerie. I got to go into room 217, and one spot just felt really freaky. And when I was walking with my dad in a hallway- we were the only one there- this doorhandle started freaking out and the door was shaking.
