Metroline E8 bus driver went through a red light and met oncoming traffic at the start of single lane roadworks. After 10 minutes of heated discussions the driver agreed to reverse 20 yards to let oncoming traffic pass

Phil Shafe for Network Support Officer Metroline made the following statement.

"All drivers are trained to a high standard and they should, of course, drive in accordance with the Highway Code and appropriate to the prevailing traffic and road conditions.

Arrangements will be made for a Local Manager to trace the driver of the vehicle concerned so that appropriate and effective action is taken. Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention."

  • @TahreyUK Try a high powered electric bicycle mate

  • @jenxx49 I'd elevate that to "you've never had to be somewhere against a deadline, and been held up by idiots, at any time in your life". You can even get obstructed when on foot, after all.

  • @kevinwoolley1978 More illegal than running a red light and then wilfully blocking the road you mean? I think you have to take stock of playing off one more troublesome offense against the other, here. There are at least five potential banksmen in that video, all he needs to do is agree for one of them to guide him whilst he reverses for about 30 seconds at less than walking pace, and the issue is solved. The cops never need know.

  • @beregond306 Never mind there was nothing behind him, but he somehow thought a 6+ strong line of cars that had to stop in order to avoid crashing into him should back up out of HIS way.

  • @210482fmj Trivial things like getting held up on the way to hourly paid work, hard-won doctors appointments, picking kids up for school, going to the airport, etc you mean? Only assholes block the road. I'll stop just short of suggesting similar about people who assume everyone else's journey is merely a "trivial" affair.

What are you supposed to do if you're in the middle of the queue, the traffic behind can't reverse, and that in front is blocked by the bus? Fly your way out?

  • @210482fmj There are a lot of bad drivers out there but so called professional drivers should not be showing such contempt for the simplest of road laws. Maybe one of those "tossers" was rushing to the hospital, or maybe they were jussed pissed off at having their time wasted by someone who should be setting standards, not ignoring them.

  • @caxtonman Fus Ro BEEP!

  • @jenxx49 I don't give a shit

  • @210482fmj its the fact that one person can be so utterly stupid! Common sense would not tell you to skip single lane roadworks when theres a light system in place. But for the bus to refuse to reverse out of the way when he was blatantly in the wrong... its infuriating. Obviously you dont drive.

  • @johncas1 and this is an excuse to jump a red light? Probably best if you stuck to the bus mate
