Now Strikeforce did create their own division at 140 as they originally only had 1 weight class (they have since adopted the standard 135 and 145). Maybe that's where you are getting confused? If anything though that hurt Carano, because girls like her and Cyborg are just naturally larger than that. Strikeforce does still do some things screwy as they call their 145 class Lightweight whereas it's traditionally known as Featherweight. Again, you are just confused. Do some research and you'll see.

@mightyPants Do you just make this stuff up as you go along? Gina has never even fought at 135. She used to fight at 140 but had problems making weight and now fights at 145. You're foolish if you think the weight divisions were created just for her. They were created by the athletic commissions just like in boxing. Read about the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts as it governs everything including weight classes.

They made a 135lbs divison just so she can fight in, the majority of others fights at 125 and it's the weight that they are comfortable at. Even if they bulk up the non Caronas will be fighting at a weight that they are not used to.

@mightyPants you're an idiot. you do realize there is more than 1 weight class for women right? some fight at 125, some 135, some 140, some 145. do you think lesnar gets special rules too because he doesn't fight in the same weight-class as b.j. penn? no he must be under 265 at weigh-in to be in the heavyweight class. it's the same thing for gina.
