The music and pictures were "borrowed" from a US Marine Corps recruitment commercial. I assume it was an original piece of music composed specifically for this purpose.
Not long ago I thought that the west stood for honor and peace, but now I know otherwise. We are just as evil as any other country on earth, I was just too ignorant to see the truth. Our greed is not worth one Abeer.
fyi (concluded) In much of the country (Iraq), women can only now move around with a male escort. Rape is committed habitually by all the main armed groups, including those linked to the government. Women are being murdered throughout Iraq in unprecedented numbers.
fyi (cont.) They (Iraqi women) held important positions in business, education and the public sector, and their rights were protected by a statutory family law that was the envy of women's activists in neighboring countries. But since the 2003 invasion, advances that took 50 years to establish are crumbling away.
FYI In March 2004 George Bush said that "the advance of freedom in the Middle East has given new rights and new hopes to women ... the systematic use of rape by Saddam's former regime to dishonor families has ended". This may have given some people the impression that the American and British invasion of Iraq had helped to improve the lives of its women. But this is far from the case.
Dear Gregory, I would love to reply in a substantive way to your comments. Unfortunately we here at the Kindertotenlied site refuse to respond to ad hominem diatribes. If you would care to revise your comments in a civil way, I would love to consider your assertions and give them the answer they deserve. Peace, Bob Boldt
This illiterate reply--like many others here, and elsewhere on Youtube--illustrates a real danger to our democracy. Democracy *requires* an informed electorate, and in America today the populace at large has lost the ability to think critically. bush/cheney/rove are fully aware of this fact, have played this card to the max, with tragic results.
