When the original Mr Twister roller coaster opened in 1964 at Elitch Gardens in Denver, CO., the designer John Allen, deemed it to be unexciting and not very thrilling. As you can see in this rare video clip, the train originally exits the lift chain and straight into the double helix. After the 1964-65 reprofile, well...you know the rest of the story. PS: the video clip says 1965 but that was a misprint.

Nice footage. I worked at the old Elitches in 1989. The wildcat was at the old park along with the twister. The twister was rebuilt at the new park...not the wildcat. The new twister is not as good as the original
