4 and 9 are bad for a reason, my jap teacher explained it a while ago
shi or kyu i forget which means something similiar to death
and there is a reason for the other 1 as well, its not just random like the 13 is in english

My Jap teacher from High School said the "superstitious" reason why they used Yon instead of Shi was cuz Shi = death/die/someshit like that.
But anyway, man, once you start getting to Counters, that's gonna fucking suck. Not only are there fucked up ways to say random shit, like Roppyaku, but you'll need to learn to say a million different ways to say the same fuckin number, depending on the shape or size of the fuckin think you're talkin' about. That's where she started to lose me back then.

I only teach the universal counter. Learning those others in a non native environment is a waste of time.
