i want to cry when I see this trailer - the story seems funny but the message is very serious. How human harm the environment and the tanuki fighting so hard for nature, at the end sadly it doesn't turn out like what they were wishing. This is still a problem for now and the anime is like 20 years old --- watch it!!!!

They are saying that because they had to move out of the forests, in the modern world, there are the spirit animals like the fox and Tanuki disguised as humans so they can live an easier life. Not that "most" humans are, but, you never know, those dark circles under the tired civilians eyes are interesting to guess at, huh? ♪

Why I like this film is because it is so blunt and tragic at the end, while having a bittersweet tone. I also love it for not portraying humans as the devil, they protray them in a negative manner sure but it's a realistic one. They aren't hunting them all down or nuking their homes, they run over the tanukies by accident and them building suburbs just happens to affect the tanuki.

I like to see it as a spiritual successor to Princess Mononoke in that respect.

Am I the only one who actually shed tears at the end of this film? I thought it was just so emotional even though it had a comic air through a lot of it... To me, this was a masterpiece.
