Singer: Fiona Apple

Album:
"When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king
What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight
And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring
There's no body to batter when your mind is your might
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand
And remember that depth is the greatest of heights
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land
And if you fall it won't matter, cause you'll know that you're right"

AKA: "When The Pawn Hits"

  • Thank you for making this video;)

I LOVE this song & wanted to know every single lyric in it even though I knew most of it.

    Fiona is KICKASS LYRICAL GENIUS!!!

Btw, Im sure its "ring of doom" NOT "rigadoon", though it might be a good coincidence that both meanings could go well with the song.....

  • @angeleyes86ebby It's definitely rigadoon.

  • @Yivia Agreed.

  • @angeleyes86ebby No problem. You're very welcome.

  • At 1:53 is rigadoon a word? Is it like saying ring around? Then at 2:04 desideratum I have no idea. Please if anyone has an answer or idea. I really like 1:53 to 2:25 her voice is so cool!

  • @MegaWhiner : the Rigadoon is a 17th-century French folk dance for couples. "Desideratum" means something wanted or needed.

  • @applemoon237 Source? I can't find anything concerning a movie/musical titled "Rigadoon", unless you're mistaken for the musical/movie titled "Brigadoon."

  • @kerryamjed Yup, I took the time this time to look it up. Thanks for your response. I'm going to see about Rigadoon now.

  • @MegaWhiner Desideratum can also be taken simply as "purpose" as in " I lose my desideratum [purpose] around you.

  • @ThisPartBlank Thank you! Spose I could have done a search. Fiona likes to make people wonder about words and things she writes. Thanks again.
