The flood control dam in Busse Woods that also creates the recreational lake. A quick tour of the dam that shows part of the lake and the creek below. The dam was built to provide flood relief as well as to create a recreational area. Dam controls the amount of water going downriver to help prevent flooding.

  • I have not been there in the winter, but during the other seasons I never see more than six people fishing anywhere near the dam. I couldn't say how many there are around the resdt of the lake. I would not worry too much about this video creating a bigger crowd. I posted this two months ago and only have 123 total hits. Of that 123, I know a bunch of the viewers are more concerned with flood control than fishing. Thank you for the comment. I understand your concern.

  • It smells more like Lake Michigan than Salt Creek. There was a nice breeze out there and the air smelled like a pier near the lake. I am working on another project that took me to the detention ponds this week. Those places smelled very bad. My crew and I spent a lot of time trying to identify the smell. Old cut grass, small dead animals and fish, old aquarium, horse barn. Watch for my next Elmhurst flood video.

  • this place sucks because there are too many foreigners around catching anything and everything to take home and at the end of the day, and avg guy cant get anything so its a crap shoot, forget this place, i stick to deeper bodies of water, busse is 10 ft max and there so many better places in chicagoland, i stick to harbors, wisconsin, and fox lake

  • theres lots of walleye there in the spring

  • Everytime I've visited the dam there are least a couple of people fishing. I see more fishing there than any other spot in the general area.

  • i have fished there during the spring while fishing salt creek itself and near the dam it is way to shallow no more then 12 inches of depth and i caught nothing only saw a bunch of little minnows. dont waste your time at the dam just fish the creek i have caught largemouth bass, pike, walleye, carp, sunfish, bullhead, and crappie at the creek

  • this is a good video for people who never been to busse dam, only going to make fishing worse than it already is cuz there will be more people there now

  • wow the water still looks like shit prolly smells like it too LOL
