Interview of Dr. Craig Lefebvre, PhD, of George Washington University School of Public and Health Services in Atlanta during the CDC's National Conference on Health Communications, Marketing and Media. Dr. Lefebvre discussed why he believes a tax on high fructose corn syrup could fight the obesity epidemic while being less regressive than a snack tax.

  • OK.. the federal government subsidizes corn farmers.. paying them to grow more corn than we can use.. which means extremely cheap corn syrup. They use tax dollars to make corn syrup cheap, then they want to slap taxes on it AGAIN to keep people from using it? It's Asinine! When will people realize how bad they're getting the shaft?

  • I agree with this. But how about at the same time making all healthy foods cheaper?

  • How about just stopping to subsidice it, and stopping the tarrifs on other products

  • People need self control and people need to learn it now.
