  • G4VZZ de G3XFD: Thanks for the excellent videos. Pity the old lady stalled. Was it just the gradient that caused the problem? She managed Parkstone Bank well enough. Enjoyable shot - please keep them coming Rob

  • We understand TPWS went off and could not be cancelled for some reason. After that they could not re-start.

  • good vid and the sound was outstanding shame it brokedown though

  • Looks as though they had a good go at restarting. An old steam technique of starting on a steep bankwas to run back very slightly to loosen up the couplings and then pull away 'coach-by coach'. No chance of doing that with buckeye-coupled stock!

  • So this is the reason why I stood on the platform at Newport for an hour...in the wind and rain...wearing a t-shirt

  • i seem to recall that almost exactly the same thing happened in about the same spot on the GB II, was it, a couple of years ago. Then, though, it managed to restart no probelem.

  • worth a second viewing, nice to hear three cylinder beat, forgot to click post, nice vid, cheers.

  • Hello, I was on the train. We were told that the TPWS had tripped causing the train to stop. The TPWS was reset after investigation but, because of the gradient, Tangmere was unable to restart and was, eventually, assisted by 47500 which piloted the train to Cardiff. Due to the time required to service the loco and train, and for Network Rail to work out the pathing arrangements, depature fron Cardiff was over 2 hours late.

  • Thank you, nice shots with good sound, explains the lack of '6024 and 34067' postings which I was expecting to see. Strange, was going well enough in the first couple of shots, dry looking rails. I went up there years ago behind Taw Valley, 12 on, no problem (but loco failed nearer to Swansea).

  • shame it failed i was at patchway waiting for both 34067 and 6024!

at least i didnt leave empty handed (:

the class 47use to rescue was the same 47 that brough 6024 stock down from parkway i believe!

    superbvideo liked and favourited.
