We are down to the final 3 contestants on American idol 7, and the Idol's were given another tough night to proove how much they want to be in the finals next week and how much pressure can they take as well.

With having to perform three songs, only one of which being their choice, the other by Paula, Simon & Randy and a final closing number chosen by the show's producers - the heat was on for David Cook, Seyesha and David Archuleta !

Out of a 9 songs, I find these performances were by far the best of the fantastic night !

Included is video footage courtesy of American Idol/Fox TV AND the very best song ever in Idol's history to close the show ! :)

Thanks for watching ~ respectful comments always appreciated,

  • I think David Archuleta has a pure and much better voice but David Cook knows how to arrange and perform songs better.

  • hmmm, I think they both have a nice voice and it's a matter of personal preferrence mainly. However, I found msyelf mroe interested through the competition hearing what David C would do with a song more than David A becasue he shocked and surprised us many time with his various tonal range and arragement, as you pointed out, a litle different with every song. Take Dolly's Little Sparrow compared to Durran Durran's Dream Big & his risky alternative take on Mariah Carey's "Always be My Baby"

  • For all of you who are still squabbling over DC versus DA, I read an article during Season 7 that stated that when David Cook aced the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera) that is what put him way over the top in fans and votes. None of the contestants came even close to the performance he gave that night and he won over a whole new group of theater loving fans. Plus, he's also a songwriter and that made him so much more appealing.

  • Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't know that litte yet important fact

  • I agree with you completely and for all the same reasons. Nicely done! I'm glad I found your post.

I can't wait to see what David Cook comes up with next week. Every week he surprises us with something that tops an "untoppable" performance from the week before. Amazing talent!!!! He's my pick for winning AI.

    Thanks for a great video.

  • DA is good at his age..but he's not very good...DC is way up ahead...well DA beats the likes of Michael Johns, and other of his Batch but not David Cook...Cook rocks

  • Respect.

  • This really does boil down to preference. Cook was the one known for changing up songs and making them sound awesome. He truly has a wonderful voice and is quite the musician. .. a true artist.

I do believe he has a better vocal range than Archie. Archie's voice could still change because of his age.

  • The last thing Archuleta does is copy the original performance. He outperforms the original artist time and time again. It's amazing to see the creativity is someone so young, but he really knows how to bring out the emotion in a song, and he does it subtle ways.

I just don't get the enthusiasm for David Cook. His voice doesn't compare with Archuleta's, and his performance is always second-best to the original artist. I don't see where he improves his songs.

  • umm hello david archuleta is only 16 years old without on-stage experience....

while david cook is much older and has experience on-stage.....but if it comes down to judging whos has better vochals its definetly david archuleta

  • Interesting, it sounds like this person is hoping for a Cook & Syesha Mercado final showdown !

  • Fair enough. I too was a "runner up fan" I still say Clay Aiken was way better than Ruben Studdard and should have won.

Where are Rubin, Fantasia & Hicks now? I Think their albums are in the bargain bin at Target :) On the flip side however, I can tell that you a real loyal Archueleta fan ( by the way, I don't dislike David A - I liked the song "Crush") I am simply stating that Cook won.. (and not just by a small amount of votes like Studdard) but by 17 million :)

  • So did Rubin, Fantasia, and Taylor. Sometimes 2nd has been a blessing. I'm not saying I don't like David C. Geez, it's just personal preference. You say Archie is a copycat but maybe for us old timers he brings back a genre of mysic that we like.

  • Fine we agree they were both incredible talents... but David Cook won :)
