  • why should a having a conversation be so hard :(

  • My problem is, I don't DO anything so I have nothing to tell people about myself. I barely have any opinions and I just feel numb overall.....I know I bore people but I'm very interested in what they have to say.

  • weather and current event is the best topic ever!!!

  • I have a problem with, I'll think up a conversation in my head and then I'll go to the person and deliver it way too fast so then it will be left with akward pauses?

  • @051290ma What I usually do is make the other person do all the talking. I keep asking them questions about the subject i'm not familiar with. "Oh, so do you go to football games often? What's your favorite team?" Haha, the other person will usually go on and on about it.. and if they ask you a question .. "are you into football?" you can be honest and just bring up another sport your into or something.

  • @051290ma Simple, just show interest in learning more about it even if you're not. If it's something like football than just tell them you don't know much about it but would like to learn more. Ask them to explain the rules and how to play, who their favorite team/players are, etc... Too easy ;)

Oh and "awkward pauses" are only awkward if you let 'em be... I happen to find silence very peaceful

  • What if somebody ends up talking to you about something that you cannot relate to or you are not interested in it. For example, I know im not that interested in football but thats where a conversation is coming to. Like how do I handle that? Anyone?

  • thanks much!

  • @AthenaMarina2 yes.. it just blows that the deeper ones are always the most enjoyable.. i guess humor works best with light/ small talk.. hatee small talk/ bc i'm usually not comfortable around people i don't know well

  • I find the deeper conversations a bad idea with my colleagues cos they don't agree with my values and beliefs, some they do, some they don't. Ditto for personal disclosure. HOWEVER with people you want to be friends with then YES these two things are important. Your tips are very VERY much appreciated. THANK YOU!
