Victorian-era summer camp

Most summer camps give kids a chance to experience new things. One in St. Paul lets them try out some old ones.

Participants at the Ramsey House Finishing School for Young Ladies spent part of their school vacation studying the Victorian era -- a time of morals, modesty and manners. Instead of seasonal attire like swimsuits and flip flops, these girls donned corsets and petticoats. And rather than roasting marshmallows, they enjoyed formal tea parties.

Nikki Tundel reports on how these Minnesota middle schoolers adapted to the lifestyle of the late1900s.

@UptownThriftStore I think you miss the point, I think Steampunk is about an ALTERNATE, 'never was' history. It probably wasn't that great for the average (broke) person, but that's the same for every era.

I just wanna point out that humans are animals too, and every animal has potential to gain an increase of intelligence, it's just a matter of how they evolve. So you never know in the future that dog running around your house could become superior in intelligence someday oh my XD

I think I would have made a perfect Victorian aged girl.. I don't think I would have cared too much about the restrictions, I would have loved wearing those kind of clothes..... Sometimes I feel I was born in the wrong era, lol. They should have this kind of camp for older girls!

dammit..if I were a girl I could have done this, I grew up right on the river from minneapolis to st. paul, they should make a men's one teaching them how to deal with steam and fixing gears or what not
