The driver in the cortina was mad beacuse he was blocked in by the 1256cc ohv chevette. Just love the tone of the pea shooter on the blue cortina sounds like the rare under powered 1.3 model .

loved these buses.....sounded great, but doors used to open with a crash (unless you'd completely stopped!!)

on some of the first busses in glasgow, up to a few years ago the driver had to get out and wind the handle to change the side back and front ones.

Are these the ones with clacking destination boards? These were always a mystery to me (still are)

Good god Keith!!! You gave me the fright of my life there....when I first looked I thought you wrote "RIP 4738" !!! :-)))
The service number displays on these buses were changed when a few years old from roller blinds to horizontal electrically controlled slats.
This conversion was required to make it practical for drivers to change the side and rear service number displays - controlled from the cab - the older roller blinds required the driver to leave his cab by jumping into the road, walk round the front of the bus, enter the bus to access the controls to the old roller blinds.
