It is definitely not the newest news but for all of you who don't know, two research groups are creating a new "liquid armor" that may help protect the entire body unlike current armor which covers only specific areas of the body. The liquid is actually known as shear thickening liquid which is a mixture of hard nanoparticles and nonevaporating liquid.

  • @CyclonicTuna023 it stiffens only when high shear force (an immediate jump in kinetic energy) occurs. so running and jumping would be slow enough not to trigger the reaction, yet a bullet is.

  • @Magnetohydrodynamics ...so in other words, the kinetic energy of the bullet...

  • can I use this video? Im doing a project with this armor, and this would help a lot with my explanation and demonstration.

  • Robin :holy super silly putty batman they stold your cape plans batman: i know robin i know

  • 100% safe? Since when is war supposed to be safe? I'm really looking forward to see this new liquid armor. But really, the only thing new armor means is new weapons to pierce the armor.

  • But the question is how thin ?

  • It is not the kinetic energy that makes the bullet dangerous. It is the massive pressure such a small surface exerts.

  • WHO ELSE IS TRYING TOO MAKE IT?!

You can get all the chemicals you need off Ebay. We all gatta work together on this! Im gonna mix the SheerThicking Liquid then use Ethanol too dilute it so it can soak into the Kevlar. The original Thickining agent is too thick too soak into the kevlar so you must dilute it with a chemical that has a high evaporation rate such as ethanol. I'm pretty sure a glass bowl with the Thickining agent with Ethanol will do and let the kevlar soak in it for a day or two

  • Imagine you've been shot by paint ball... or airsoft bullet...
