The way she says the words "fuhst" (first) and "guhls" (girls). Yes, Locust Valley Lockjaw, also very Jackie Onassis.

@mattleemattlee123 what a great observation you make about her smile, and it is so true about the years melting away. Her spirit was bright.

What a classy lady. I've been in love with her since seeing her in Lost Horizon. Amazingly, when she smiles the years drop away and that beautiful, youthful face still lights up as it did 7 decades earlier.
They absolutely do not make them like her anymore.

Ladies like this don't get born anymore. I watch the reruns of Father Knows Best at 6;30 a.m. in Chicago.

..Not from "Locust Valley" but she was from East Coast society . Prior to taking up acting she was listed in the New York Social Registry. Always a lady , Jane gets respect from decent people .

These caliber of Hollywood women did not sleep aroung nor booze hound and use drugs as the strength of their family stayed with them all through their life.
Are they any left today? No, I don't think so for decades now.

She looks INCREDIBLE for 89. I saw a costume she wore in Star Trek in the Sci Fi museum in Seattle. It was rather thrilling.
an incredible interview at age 89...may we all be so alert...
One of my wonderful memories of childhood...she being the Mom on Father Knows Best....she was an angel

What a flawless example of Locust Valley Lockjaw. Ironic that she's not from there but the accent is perfect. Very aristocratic. I understand a lot of effort went in to making sure members of the upper classes got this accent right. Quite different form typical Mid Atlantic and also different from Boston Brahmin.
