Some beautiful footage of JT4A powered Sabena 707 Intercontinentals in their gorgeous 1960s livery, along with fantastic scenery in & around Brussels Airport!

Also, watch for Caravelles (Plus interior mock-up), DC-6, & CV-440 as well.

Founded in 1923, Sabena was one of the longest lived carriers in the history of air travel, and they were very well known for their excellent reputation both in quality of service, & safety.

Sadly, the company succumbed to bankruptcy in 2003.

  • I'm sure that the cabin of the Caravelle at the start of this clip must be a mock-up, because it wouldn't be wide enough to allow the camera to be positioned at the distance that it is here.

  • Yeah, pretty sure that's a "Set". ;-)

  • Great stuff. Goes to show just how crappy airline service has become since then for the economy passenger with no mileage account.

  • mcdonnell220--you are the airline king. You have earned your wings many times by providing this entertainment.

  • How glamourous it all was.

  • I flown on a Caravelle when i was 10 from Newcastle airport to Barcelona airport for my family holiday in Calella with Intersun whom went bust or taken over, im not sure who the airline was but all i can remember was a 9 hour delay due to thunder storms in Spain and big old windows on the plane, i feel very lucky as im at that age where i have been on all the great planes, L1011, MD11, DC10, B727 BAC1-11. plus many more, i was very lucky to have parents who loved their holidays aboard :)

  • GOOD OLD TIMES. SABENA WAS THE BEST WORLD AIRLINES

  • Sebena went out of business years ago. I flew Sebena from CDG to Athens than from Belgium to JFK. Not the greatest flight but what the hell.

  • @ 0:57 who needs a computer? i got this thing! :)

  • Never miss an opportunity to crack the old joke, SABENA = such a bad experience, never again.

  • Man, those were the days. The only airlines here in the US worth flying for the economy passenger is Southwest and Virgin America which I have not flown yet but hear very good things about.

  • too bad that they are out of business now xD brussels airlines today is much better than sabena was

  • I miss these times (I'm too young to remember this kind of service though!). I would gladly pay more to get this kind of service. Now it's 'on board deli's' , exhausted flight attendants, smelly planes, crying babies, delays, fees for luggage, cramped seats...flying just sucks!
