@thebobsterjones Halo is well known for being heavily inspired by Aliens. The vehicles are incredibly similar in appearance too, as well as the bits you mentioned.

Honestly, I find Newt incredibly annoying. While watching the film I find myself wishing she'd be killed. I don't know what it is about the character, but I just cannot stand her.

@RASOOL28 Thats funny, because as a 28 year old I still consider Aliens to be my favorite. I think both films are about equal. Since they are both a different type of film, its hard to compare them. Alien goes the horror route whereas Aliens comes at it from an action point of view. Both suit the subject matter well and both Scott and Cameron hit the nail of the head with their interpretations.

@upkarsaimbi If anything they should continue on the series by pretending Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection never happened similar to what they Singer did with Superman Returns (even though it sucked). Alien and Aliens are great movies for different reasons. Alien is an excellent sci-fi horror film whereas Aliens is an excellent Action sci-fi film.
Cameron was spot on in going in a different direction rather than trying to emulate Scott's film.

@enigma19833 Every Alien film after Aliens has been garbage. Its pretty hard to complain that Aliens did anything to hurt the series when compared to the cinematic achievments of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection.

the best one to me

Also, I think, personally, that Alien takes place in a post-feminist world, so Ripley isn't exactly a strong FEMALE character, she's just a strong character in general.

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
I see what you're saying about the Queen Alien being a great addition, and it made for one helluva climactic scene, but it simplified the xenomorphs too much IMO. Basically turned them into a hive of space-insects and removed most of the fascinating ambiguity that the first film created.
As for where the eggs come from, well there's a certain deleted scene (restored for the 2003 Director's Cut) in Alien that answers it, and it's quite horrific and, well, alien. And much more interesting.

@tsunamaisurfer606 Yeah true. You noticed how similar to apone is to johnson in halo? Also the weaponry and armour of the halo marines has a distinct feel of the aliens marines too. Maybe the parasitical flood has similarities to the parasitical aliens in this. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that maybe, just maybe, a good chunk of Halo was inspired by Aliens....
