Written by actor and accomplished musician, Stella Grundy, Nico Icon Play is an exploration into the life and times of Christa Paffhgen (Nico) - model, actress and singer with one of the most influential bands of our time, The Velvet Underground. From the glamour, hedonism and coldness of the Warhol years, through the drug addiction and squalor of the 1980s, the play chronicles Nicos close friendship with Manchester svengali, Alan Wise and her ill-feted attempts to re-establish herself as a credible artist.
This is without question one of the worse things I have ever seen and heard. No wonder it never came here to NYC. This would have been laughed out of town! This chick looks and sounds nothing like Nico and is obvouisly not a trained actor. She sounds more like post 'Broken English' Marianne Faithfull having a Kurt Weil moment or Nina Hagen's guttural range. Ughhhhhhhhhhh!
Can anyone hear that? It's the sound of Nico rolling over in her grave!
