Today the news broke that Brend 413 (Brandus x Doeke x Tjimme) is coming to Iron Spring Farm in America. These are nice bloodlines to have here and Brend, who is really excelling at dressage is going to a nice home. Iron Spring competes their Friesian stallions heavily and successfully in dressage. This is good for the breed.

This video is from the stallion show in Leeuwarden in 2008. I am so glad I happened to have it on tape. I believe here Brend is at level ZZ licht. I admit, I am too ignorant in dressage to know what that translates to in the American system, but I think it is pretty good!

  • Ich habe einen Sohn von Brend 413 und er ist dem Vater sehr ähnlich.

  • His canter is not "choppy"...not the best, but I consider them "breedy"; they have their own natural gait. I don;t think they should be held up to warmbloods.

  • beautiful breed.

  • hmm i see where you say he is lazy behind, perhaps that is why he lead changes are so sloppy? but i dont think his canter is choppy, definitely not the best moving friesian i have seen but not choppy.

  • Well

I have an off spring by him, Tyrannimus von Therkelsen, and he is turning out very well, he is a 3 year old gelding and he is really well behaved, and he has shown som really interesting talent for dressage.

    best regards

    Jannie

  • horsebelover: licht does NOT mean lift :) It means light... Zwaar means heavy

ZZ licht is therefore ZZ light :)

  • & His canter is choppy to me.

  • Ehhh,he doesn't do it for me. Seems kinda lazy in the hind end.And don't tell me that i know nothing about friesians because i train them.

  • lol is that an instrumental of Dido's Here with me?? 2:45

    This horse is gorgeous!!
